Avs and Rockies...

Well its been a couple of days/weeks.  I got busy and I just couldn't find the time to get on here (excuse).  Anyway a lot has happened in the world of sport in my mind so lets dive in.

I am going to start with the PGA with no more football I have found myself watching more golf.  I understand why people love it.  I always tell my wife "I am going to watch golf and nap".  Its an extremely slow moving (quiet too) sport.  Love it.  In a fast paced loud world its nice to relax and watch some golf.  In about 10 years I bet am addicted to watching and playing golf.  Currently I am watching the Northern Trust Open.

Onto the lowly avalanche.. Tons of O'Reilly talk but nothing happening.  He will probably get dealt and the Avs will watch him dominate on another team or he will be a bust.  Either way Avs don't spend any cash so its a mute point anyway.  Last nights oilers-avs games was really dissapointing.  Up 4-1 and then let the high flying middle school aged Oilers take it you.  Varly was unreal not much help at the back end.. 

The Nuggets are on All-Star break.  They had an unreal road trip but still had 2 extremely tough losses late to very good eastern teams.  They will be fine and hopefully end up as a 4-5 seed and make a run to get out of the first round.

Rockies...Ah my summer crush.  They get me so excited in Feburary-March getting ready for spring trainning and then its the same break up every July when the are 15 back...
Lets look at the Projected Lineup:
1. Dex - New Contract, Needs to get on and not strikeout...
2. Rutledge- Like I said his GF is hot.  Rutledge could be the Rox breakout player this year
3. Cargo- Bombs away.
4. Tulo-  Need to be healthy and everything will workout.
5. Cuddyer-  Solid
6. Helton- ? Really.. Colvin?
7. Rosario- Beast
8. Nelson- 27 year olds sometimes take off and have career years (that would help)

Rotation (I guess)
1. De la Rosa- Coming off major surgery... Is he really an ace? I guess we will find out
2. Chacin-  Coming off injury... would be a fringe starter on any other team but here he is a 2
3. Pomeranz-  Would be nice if the Ubaldo trade really paid off here...
4. Nicasio- Coming off major injuries... Love him but he has dealt with some MAJOR injuries
5. Francias-  The Canadian...  Can he give 6 innings, 3-4 ERs most of the time? If he can that would help...

Will we dive into the guys trying to make a spot next time and the bullpen.

Not a bad start to my sports journalism career... Calling a goal from Milan Hejduk in his 1000th game.  Don't look now but I am batting 1000%.

Nuggets looked horrific in the first half vs the lowly Bucks but are really turning it on and with 4 minutes to go they are with in one possesion.

A few quick things about the Avalanche game last night.

1.  Absolutely terrible penalties taken by the Avs in the first and third period. If they think they can beat NHL teams with only 4 skaters then we might as well start looking the Rockies spring roster...

2.  Duchene is a beast.  "Hey O'Reily I took a short term deal and I am proving I am worth more" (Duchene)

3.  Power play?  The chance that we get one or two we should score.

4.  5 on 3 PK in the first was a great effort.

Well that was fun.  Now I am going to pour over this Rockies spring roster and report back.  Question to think about if George Frazier's son makes the big squad will he be more or less wasted during broadcasts?

Just kidding George losing 90+ wouldn't be the same with ya.

But really if your kid can pitch I am buying a Rockies Frazier jersey.

First thoughts.....

Let's start with the NFL.... Yeah for the mighty Ravens. You won me 180$ in a loser pool finale. Ye-haw. It was a really interesting game but as a die hard Packer fan I was over it when the 49ers crushed my dreams that cold dumb night. NFL is king but that king needs a break so we are on to bigger(not even close), better(maybe) things in life.

The NHL is awesome. The Avs are currently undefeated at home with a huge game tonight vs the stars. If Varly continues to stand strong in net and they can score some goals they just might be able to sneak in as a seven or eight seed(order your playoff tickets now). They need figure out the O'Reilly situation and get him on the ice. With out Landeskog, Downie and now jones they will need some kind of 2way spark.

CSU Men's bball is officially interesting. Riding a 25 home game win streak rammies look poised for another shot at the tournament. However now expectations should be to win and not just be satisfied to be there. Last year was cool but the effort vs Murray state was well embarrassing. Go rams keep rolling can't wait to rep CSU while I am in Vegas for the tournament.

When is the Rockies first spring training game? I will be following the men in purple extremely close. As I love me some baseball.

Ever year same thing who is really going to pitch. No ace, no kind of decent 2 or 3. Also, Corpas is back! When are they giving out manny corpas shirts at coors?
